International Conference on Modelling, Optimisation and Computing (ICMOC 2012)aims to provide a platform for participants from diverse field of Mechanical Engineering backgrounds to exchange ideas and findings to promote cooperation, networking as well as knowledge sharing in both engineering practice and research in higher education. Furthermore research in mechanical engineering has played a vital role in providing a platform for young researchers for mutual exchange of knowledge towards improving the academic, scientific and research programs. With an increase in the use of formal modeling techniques in problems of practical importance, significant new challenges pertaining to representation of the analysis and modelling problems, solution techniques, computational efficiency, and man-machine interactions have been identified. At the same time, impressive advances in computational algorithms and hardware have contributed to successful applications in problems of nontrivial complexity. The conference will address current and future trends in broad modeling and simulation techniques, models and practices, and strive to foster interdisciplinary collaborative research in these areas. ICMOC 2012 aims to bring academics together to share and exchange perspectives and ideas on matters related to research in higher education. Manuscripts having focus on theory, applications, design and/or experimental studies relevant to the conference theme are invited.
